Summary of this Tutorial:

The largest reason this happens is your hosting provider may not be configured to use PHP mail() or they have a email spam tool that is catching them.

The first option to get around this would be mandrill.

Mandrill is a dedicated email service that is free for your first 12000 emails a month.

Install and activate the wpMandrill plugin and go to Settings, Mandrill to configure.

You will need to create an account on mandrill then go to settings to get your API key.

Copy the key and paste it in to your Mandril plugin on your site.

A different way would be to use Gmail's SMTP servers.

Start by installing and activating the WP Mail SMTP plugin

Go to Settings, email to configure the plugin.

Make sure this is checked and add the Gmail server information.

Click save changes and now you are using Gmail for outgoing emails.
